Construction Update | New Landscape | Relocation of Fleet Services

5 Nov 2021

A new multi-functional open landscape will be introduced at the P&F Gardeners Compound (Building 86) and Industrial Centre (85) located between Hood St and Services Rd for the UQ community to enjoy. Demolition of the P&F Gardeners Compound has already commenced, due to the location been an unoccupied space.

The P&F Gardeners Compound and Industrial Centre will be developed into an open landscape with BBQs, outdoor seating, half size ball court, plantation and ablutions. The multi-functional open space will be available for use by the UQ Community from March 2022. For further information on this project, please click here.

On Wednesday 1 December 2021 demolition will commence at the Industrial Centre. This space is currently occupied by Fleet Service team (Transport Systems) in the Property and Facilities Division, who offer Fleet services including fuel supply and vehicle hire, amongst other services, to all UQ staff members.

Fleet services staff and car key collection will be relocated from Monday 29 November 2021 to the Warehouse (Building 99), and all fleet hire vehicles will be moved to the nearby carpark (P2). Once relocated, Fleet Services will continue the use of RACQ for tyre punctures and flat batteries, and vehicle servicing will also continue to be coordinated by the Fleet Office. Relocating to the Warehouse will bring together Fleet Services with other Property and Facilities Division services such as the mail/ courier, warehouse and grounds.

Please note after the relocation, fuel will not be provided on campus. Instead, services will be provided at both BP and AMPOL at a discounted rate. Fortunately for staff members at the St Lucia Campus, the closest BP is only a quick drive to Coonan St, Indooroopilly. All fuel card users are also able to take advantage of the car washes offered by our suppliers.

Demolition of the existing Industrial Centre and construction of the new landscaping area is anticipated to commence in December 2021 – March 2022. During this time, expect intermittent noise disruptions and traffic-controlled roads and pathways surrounding the area.

The schedule of works and expected disruptions will be provided to surrounding building occupants on a regular basis and closer to the commencement date. Notices will also be provided on the Road and Building works page.
