Road closures for St Lucia graduation ceremonies

This year, the St Lucia December graduation ceremonies, including set up and pack down, will run from Monday 21 November to Tuesday 20 December 2022.

To accommodate this exciting part of the academic calendar, I wanted to share with you the road closures and areas of the campus that may be restricted.

Road closures

To ensure the safety of visitors to the campus and enable set-up, the below roads will be closed to traffic.

Great Court ramp (Mansfield Place)

  • Closed from Monday 21 November to Tuesday 20 December 2022
  • A number of car park spaces in Mansfield Place will be reserved for suppliers.

Union Road

  • Closed from Friday 9 December to Saturday 17 December 2022
  • If you are expecting deliveries during this time, please organise alternative arrangements or contact UQ Principal Events Officer, Leila Hutton.

P10 UQ Centre Car Park

  • Limited parking from Friday 9 December to Saturday 17 December 2022
  • Reserved parking will be cordoned off to accommodate graduations suppliers, UQ Union complex tenants, UQ Sport and Health Services tenants, and any clients accessing their services.

Campbell Road

  • Closed from Friday 9 December to Saturday 17 December 2022
  • Alternate accessibility bays are located in University Drive, Slip Road and Staff House Road.

UQ Security will be on site managing the closures.

Accessibility parking

Alternate accessibility bays are located in Mansfield Place, University Drive, Slip Road and Staff House Road. For more information on accessibility parking at UQ, visit the UQ accessible parking webpage.

Affected areas

Graduation ceremonies are held in the UQ Centre (27A) followed by post-ceremony celebrations in the Great Court.

Events and functions will not be permitted in Campbell Place, the Great Court or on the Forgan Smith Lawns between Monday 21 November and Tuesday 20 December 2022.

We also ask that you please reduce any noise and avoid unnecessary vehicle movement in and around the affected areas during the graduation ceremonies.
