Lakes & Amphitheatre Renewal: Project Progress

27 Feb 2023

Please be advised, that due to the recent wet weather the previously advised electrical and comms connection works have been pushed back to Monday (27/2/23) – Wednesday (1/3/23).

If further wet weather is received during this planned period, these works may be delayed further.

There will be minimal pedestrian and vehicular impacts to the bottom of Jocks Road as all works will take place from within the fenced off grass area (refer area highlighted in blue on the attached mark-up).

Affected areas

When

  • Start: Monday, 27 February 2023
  • Finish: Wednesday, 1 March 2023
  • Times: 6:30am to 5:00pm

Work details & access

  • mobilisation of a 3t excavator to the area - this will be achieved by opening a small section of fencing next to the pedestrian gate (won’t need access onto Jocks Road);
  • trenching and installing 5-10m of 2 x electrical conduits and 2 x communication conduits to the relevant pit;
  • backfilling conduit trenches and under bore retrieval pit, and tidying the area;
  • removal of barrier mesh/delineation and reopening the grassed-area; and
  • work area will be fenced off to clearly delineate the work zone from the public and traffic control will be in place for any vehicular movements (if required).

Project details

The iconic UQ lake and amphitheatre is being transformed into a self-sustaining ecosystem that offers habitat for wildlife and more opportunities for people to enjoy the area.
