The University of Queensland will be hosting the December 2025 graduations at Gatton on Thursday 11 December 2025.
Please note the key dates, affected areas and road closures below.
Key dates
Set up: Tuesday 9 December–Thursday 11 December 2025
Ceremonies: Thursday 11 December 2025, 10am, 12pm and 2pm
Pack up: Friday 12 December 2025
If you would like further details on the ceremony schedule, please see the graduation webpage.
Affected areas
- Gymnasium
- Dining Hall and Central Walkway
- Morrison Hall
- Foundation Building
- Intercampus shuttle bus stop
Graduation ceremonies will be held in the Gymnasium followed by post-ceremony celebrations in the Dining Hall and the Central Walkway. Graduates and their guests will be present and moving constantly, increasing pedestrian traffic throughout these areas.
We request that noise, unnecessary vehicle movement and/or construction works in and around the affected areas are reduced to enhance our graduates' experience and minimise risk.
Road closures
Road closures will be in place during graduations due to increased pedestrian traffic. These road closures are essential to reduce the risks associated with the large number of people and suppliers on campus.
UQ Security will be on site managing the closures and allowing restricted access only to graduations providers during periods of low risk, and Emergency Services vehicles (if required).
Below is an outline of the roads that will be closed to vehicle access on Thursday 11 December 2025:
- Inner Ring Road from Morrison Hall to behind the Gymnasium
- Galletly Road around the Gymnasium
- The road behind the Gymnasium
- Access to the swimming pool car park will be one-way only.
Intercampus shuttle bus stop – temporarily moved
Due to the increased foot traffic on Inner Ring Road, the intercampus shuttle bus stop will be temporarily moved to the corner of Inner Ring Road and Chapel Hill Road on Thursday 11 December 2025.
Please feel free to forward this on to your external stakeholders who may be affected and please notify your relevant clients as required.
You are welcome to contact UQ Principal Events Officer Adam Sehnoun, by emailing a.sehnoun@uq.edu.au, should you have any questions.
We thank you for your cooperation in providing a safe and memorable experience for graduates and their guests.
