Please note the key dates, affected areas and road closures below.
Key dates
Set up: Monday 24 June – Friday 5 July 2024
Ceremonies: Monday 8 July – Friday 12 July 2024
Pack up: Saturday 13 July – Wednesday 17 July 2024
If you would like further details on the ceremony schedule, please see the graduation webpage.
Affected areas
Graduation ceremonies will be held in the UQ Centre followed by post-ceremony celebrations in the Great Court. A large number of graduates and their guests will be present and moving constantly, increasing pedestrian traffic through Union Road and Campbell Place.
We request that noise, unnecessary vehicle movement and/or construction works in and around the affected areas are reduced to enhance our graduates' experience and minimise risk.
Please note that events and functions will not be permitted in Campbell Place, the Great Court or on the Forgan Smith lawns during this period.
Road closures
As per previous years, road closures will be in place during the graduation period due to increased pedestrian traffic. These road closures are essential to reduce the risks associated with the large number of people and suppliers on campus.
Below is an outline of the affected roads:
Great Court ramp (Mansfield Place) – closed from Monday 8 July – Friday 12 July 2024
- The Great Court will be closed to vehicle access for the entire graduation period. UQ Security will be on site managing the ramp closure and allowing restricted access to graduation providers during periods of low risk, and emergency services vehicles (if required).
- There will be alternate accessibility bays at Mansfield Place, University Drive, Slip Road and Staff House Road. For more information, see accessible parking at UQ.
- Car parks in Mansfield Place will be reserved for suppliers.
Union Road – closed from Monday 8 July – Friday 12 July 2024
- Union Road will have a full road closure in place after the P10 Carpark entrance, with strictly no vehicle access during the graduation period. The only exceptions will be for emergency services vehicles and the graduation shuttle bus. UQ Security will be on site managing this road closure.
- If you are expecting deliveries during this time, please organise alternative arrangements or contact UQ Principal Events Officer Adam Sehnoun as soon as possible.
P10 UQ Centre Carpark – limited parking from Monday 8 July – Friday 12 July 2024
Reserved parking will be cordoned off in P10 UQ Centre Carpark to accommodate:
- Graduation suppliers
- Taxi/delivery drop-offs
- Accessibility parking

- Any clients accessing services.
UQ Security will be on site managing this parking area.
Campbell Road – closed from Monday 8 July – Friday 12 July 2024
- Campbell Road will be closed from University Drive throughout the graduation period. The only exceptions will be for emergency services vehicles and the graduation shuttle bus. UQ Security will be on site managing this road closure.
- There will be alternate accessibility bays at University Drive, Slip Road and Staff House Road. For more information, see accessible parking at UQ.
