The University will host the July 2025 graduations at St Lucia from Monday 14 July to Friday 18 July 2025, with set up and pack down activities to occur in the week before and after.
Outlined below are details of the affected areas on campus, including parking and road closures, with the full details available on the website.
Affected areas
Graduation ceremonies will be held in the UQ Centre followed by post-ceremony celebrations in the Great Court.
As a result, the following areas are likely to see an increase in activity and will be subject to some traffic restrictions:
We kindly request that noise, vehicle movement, and construction works in and around the affected areas be reduced to prevent disruptions.
During graduations, it will not be possible to accommodate other events and functions in Campbell Place, the Great Court or on the Forgan Smith lawns.
Road closures
As per previous years, road closures will be in place during graduations. These road closures are essential to reduce the risks associated with the large number of people and suppliers on campus.
Below is an outline of the affected roads that will be closed from Monday 14 July – Friday 18 July 2025 (inclusive):
- Vehicle access to the Great Court will be closed for the week of graduations, including times between individual ceremonies.
- UQ Security will manage access for authorised and emergency vehicles only.
- Union Road will be fully closed to vehicles during the graduation ceremonies period.
- UQ Security will manage access for authorised and emergency vehicles only.
- From Saturday 19 July 2025, Union Road will return to limited access as part of UQ Sport Fitness Centre construction.
If vehicle access to these areas is required during this period, please contact UQ Principal Events Officer Adam Sehnoun as soon as possible.
Parking changes
There will be a number of temporary changes to parking on campus from Monday 14 July – Friday 18 July 2025, details as follows:
- Several car parks in Mansfield Place will be reserved for suppliers.
- Access to P10 UQ Centre Carpark and P10 Synthetic Fields Carpark will be via Sir William MacGregor Drive only.
P10 Aquatic Centre Carpark (outdoor) is permanently closed to enable construction of the new UQ Sport Fitness Centre.
Accessibility parking is available at P10 UQ Centre Carpark, Mansfield Place, University Drive, Slip Road and Staff House Road. For more information, see accessible parking at UQ.

Where possible, we would be grateful if you could reschedule activities that may be impacted by the road closures and events occurring during graduations.
