The University of Queensland will host the July 2025 graduations at St Lucia from Monday 14 July to Friday 18 July 2025.

Please note the key dates, affected areas and road closures below.

Key dates

Set up: Monday 7 July – Friday 11 July 2025
Ceremonies: Monday 14 July – Friday 18 July 2025
Pack up: Monday 21 July – Friday 25 July 2025

If you would like further details on the ceremony schedule, please see the graduation webpage.

Affected areas

Graduation ceremonies will be held in the UQ Centre followed by post-ceremony celebrations in the Great Court. A large number of graduates and their guests will be present and moving constantly between the two locations, increasing pedestrian traffic through Union Road and Campbell Place.

We request that noise, unnecessary vehicle movement and/or construction works in and around the affected areas are reduced to enhance our graduates' experience and prevent disruption.

Please note that events and functions will not be permitted in Campbell Place, the Great Court or on the Forgan Smith lawns during this period.

Road closures

As per previous years, road closures will be in place during graduations due to increased pedestrian traffic. These road closures are essential to reduce the risks associated with the large number of people and suppliers on campus.

Below is an outline of the affected roads:

Great Court ramp (Mansfield Place) – closed from Monday 14 July – Friday 18 July 2025

  • The Great Court will be closed to vehicle access for the entire graduation ceremonies period, including times between individual ceremonies. UQ Security will be on site managing the ramp closure and allowing restricted access to graduation providers during periods of low risk, and emergency services vehicles (if required).
  • There will be alternate accessibility bays at Mansfield Place, University Drive, Slip Road and Staff House Road. For more information, see accessible parking at UQ.
  • Several car parks in Mansfield Place will be reserved for suppliers.

Union Road – closed from Monday 14 July – Friday 18 July 2025

  • Union Road will be fully closed to vehicles during the graduation ceremonies period. The only exceptions will be emergency services vehicles and the graduation shuttle bus. UQ Security will be on site to manage the road closure.
  • If you are expecting deliveries during this time, please organise alternative arrangements or contact UQ Principal Events Officer Adam Sehnoun as soon as possible.
  • From 19 July 2025, Union Road will return to limited access as part of the UQ Sport Fitness Centre construction.

P10 UQ Centre Carpark – limited parking from Monday 14 July – Friday 18 July 2025

  • Access to P10 UQ Centre Carpark will be via Sir William MacGregor Drive only.
  • Please be aware the P10 Aquatic Centre Carpark has permanently closed to enable construction of the new UQ Sport Fitness Centre. A section of the P10 UQ Centre Carpark has been allocated to Aquatic Centre customers.
  • The P10 Synthetic Fields Carpark remains open and is accessible via Sir William MacGregor Drive.

Reserved parking will be cordoned off in P10 UQ Centre Carpark to accommodate:

  • graduation suppliers
  • taxi/delivery drop-offs
  • accessibility parking
  • service and maintenance vehicles
  • UQ Union complex tenants
  • UQ Sport and Health Services tenants
  • any clients accessing services

Please feel free to forward this information to your external stakeholders who may be affected and please notify your relevant clients as required.

You are welcome to contact UQ Principal Events Officer Adam Sehnoun should you have any questions.

We thank you for your cooperation in providing a safe and memorable experience for graduates and their guests.
