Crane Lift and Rooftop Works: Chemistry Building (68)

14 Nov 2023

There will be a telecommunications upgrade to the existing rooftop equipment at Chemistry Building (68) to allow for 5G modernisation.

Please be advised that a crane truck will be in operation on Sunday 19 November. Research Road will be impacted during these works, with traffic control, spotters and exclusion zones in place. (See crane lift overview below)

Please be advised there will also be a required temporary power shutdown in early December (early morning or after hours for approx. 1-2 hours). The Project Manager will provide a further update to building users in advance once a date and time is finalised.

Affected Areas

  • Building 68
  • Rooftop & Plant Rooms Level 12 & upwards.
  • Front entrance crane lift (Sunday 19 November)
  • Contractor foot traffic through building

  • Start: Sunday, 19 November 2023
  • Finish: Sunday, 10 December 2023
  • Times: During regular Business Hours  6am to 5pm unless specified otherwise.

Work details

The purpose of this upgrade is to provide additional network capacity and 5G technology in the local area. There will be minimal disruption to occupants as works are isolated to the rooftop and plant rooms, however there may be additional foot traffic throughout the day (via contractor) and possibly some minor noise.

The following works are proposed:

  • Removal of existing Vodafone and Optus equipment
  • Replacement and reconfiguration of existing and new Vodafone antennas
