Property and Facilities ( P&F) have engaged a structural engineering consultancy to advise on structural remedial options based on recent investigations.
As part of assessing options for remediation, it will be necessary to undertake further invasive investigations within the emergency stairwell in the south-east corner of the tower closest to the Great Court.
Property and Facilities need to schedule these at the earliest and therefore have planned for the structural investigation work in the Forgan Smith emergency stairwell adjacent the Great Court commencing Monday 20th November 2023.
This work is being scheduled to occur out of hours to minimise disruptions to users of the building.

Work details
The work will involve using power tools to drill/chisel concrete to expose reinforcing material in order to determine residual strength.This work will develop noise intermittently which has the potential to disturb occupants of the building. Consequently, the investigative work is being planned to occur out of hours early in the morning.
