Crane & Hoist Inspection/Service: Various Buildings

Please be advised there will be an inspection and service of cranes and hoists in May to the buildings listed in the attached schedule.
AS2550 states that all cranes and hoists are to be inspected and serviced at intervals no greater than 12 weeks. This inspection will be undertaken by Fives Services for UGL.

When

Date: Please see attached schedule (PDF, 139.9 KB)

Time: Between 7:00am and 5:00pm (refer to the attached schedule)

Work Details

  • Perform functional testing of equipment, ensuring that all limits and protection devices are fitted and operational.
  • Isolate equipment to allow safe access to carry out mechanical and electrical inspection and servicing of equipment. 
  • Inspection will be as per the requirements of AS2550.
  • Make any necessary adjustment, lubricate areas as required and visually access all elements of the equipment.
  • Once inspection and service is complete remove isolation and test equipment operation.
  • Complete service report for each piece of equipment. Service report will detail finding and any work and adjustments that have been carried out as well as any repairs that need to be completed.
  • Equipment will only be returned to service if deemed safe for continued use.

Requirements

  • Access to all parts of the equipment will be required.
  • In most cases it will be necessary to barricade off area below equipment.
  • Isolation of equipment will be necessary to complete the inspection.
  • Equipment will be unavailable for the duration of the inspection.
  • Inspection duration of most pieces of equipment will be no greater than 2 hours.
  • Any loads will need to be removed by UQ prior to attending site
