Work details
The Red Room and all interior spaces will be temporarily closed for essential works.
This is to enable the removal and/or containment of asbestos in 3 back-of-house rooms at the Red Room. These rooms are not accessible to the general community. Access is restricted to the appointed contractors completing the works only.
We want to provide assurances that asbestos remediation work will be carried out safely by licenced professionals in line with relevant legislation.
Safety measures will include safety management plans, air monitoring, protective equipment, signage and barricades. All asbestos-containing material will be secured and wrapped before being removed from the building for appropriate disposal.
The Union Complex will remain open during the works.
Disruption in the area is expected to be minimal as the works will be contained.
