Level 4 SBMS PC2 Laboratory Refurbishment Project: Otto Hirschfeld (81)

There will be refurbishment work to Level 4 in Otto Hirschfeld (81) to allow for the delivery of a new PC2 Lab and PWD toilet as part of the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBMS) PC2 Laboratory project.

This notification provides a high-level look ahead of works scheduled for the upcoming months. Ongoing communications will be issued throughout the works period to notify users of and around this building any expected disruptive works.

Works on Level 4 Otto Hirschfeld are expected to run from November 2023 to February 2024.

    • Noisy works with some vibration during concrete cutting.

  • Core holes for drainage
    • Exclusion Zones around work areas on Level 3 of Otto Hirschfeld and Therapies Annexe for safety of users may impact usual pedestrian pathways.
    • Noisy Works during core holing.

  • Floor grinding

Project details

 

The project aims to transform this area into a specialised PC2 laboratory dedicated to investigating the blood-tissue interface in injury and repair. The construction will include upgrades to existing lab spaces in rooms 405, 406, 408, and 410, along with enhancements to the toilet in room 402 to accommodate an all-gender toilet facility.
