Traffic changes – P1-4 carparks - Sir Fred Schonell Drive

There will be temporary traffic changes at the P1-4 carparks on Sir Fred Schonell Drive, St Lucia, to allow for installation of license plate recognition boom gates as part of the 2026 parking changes.

 Start/Finish: Tuesday 7 April to late April 2026

Work details 

  • To enable installation of license plate recognition boom gates, signage and bollards will be in place for temporary lane diversions in and around the P1-4 carpark entrances and exits.  
  • Any works that require a temporary closure of an entrance or exit will be scheduled outside of peak times and detours will be clearly signposted where required.  
  • Traffic arrangements will change day-to-day as work progresses. This webpage will be updated with the latest information. 
  • An update on timing and instructions on using the license plate recognition boom gates will be emailed to permit holders and published on UQ parking zones, rates and permits prior to the boom gates becoming operational.   
  • Motorists are urged to please take care driving in the area. 

P4 entry - temporary lane closures

  • Monday 13 April (from midday): One lane will be closed to entering traffic. The lane will reopen on Tuesday 14 April.
  • Tuesday 14 April (from approximately 2:00 pm): One lane will be closed to entering traffic. The lane will reopen on Wednesday 15 April.
  • Wednesday 15 April (from approximately 2:00 pm): One lane will be closed to entering traffic. The lane will reopen on Thursday 16 April.
