Planning an event at UQ
A range of events are held at UQ campuses each year, including concerts, performances and movie nights. There are a number of outdoor spaces available at St Lucia that you can book for your next event, including the:
- Forgan Smith Lawns
- Grassy Knoll
- UQ Art Museum lawn.

BBQ sites (PDF, 1.9 MB) operate on a first-in, first-served basis and cannot be booked in advance.
2. Before you apply
Before you apply, you'll need to consider insurance, risk management and safety.
Insurance and risk management
If you are a UQ staff member or student organising an event, the event will be covered by UQ’s insurance.
If you are not a UQ staff member or student, your event will not be covered by UQ's insurance and you will need to provide a copy of your own public liability insurance policy to the value of $20 million.
Both UQ and external event organisers need to:

Health, safety and wellness
Events held at UQ must comply with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Queensland) to ensure the health and safety of everyone. Be prepared to adapt to changes to gathering/movement restrictions or the impact of severe weather to ensure the safety of attendees.
